When it comes to big astrological transits like the Equinox there's a lot of pressure on immediate change. Modern life doesn't have time for soft transitions or energetic layovers--we want instant perceptible difference. But we're not mechanical creatures and you can't flip a switch on nature.
If you can prevent this week's Mars aspects from ruining your mood, there is absolutely a shift in the air. It's subtle, more of an anticipation of what's to come, gently teasing some of the season's—and year's—larger aspects. Allow Mercury to set the pace: enjoy the lingering liminality before the weekend restarts the year in earnest.
Mercury is still in Pisces, its watery exile, blending intuition and emotion with logic and thought until they're indivisible from each other. If you're a wholly solar type—or simply immersed in a wholly solar world—this is likely the most maddening transit of your year. We may be back in the Aries fire but this season holds some of the most powerful spiritual opportunities of our year which you won't be able to tap unless you're comfortable in the ebb and flow of uncertainty.
Mercury connects with Jupiter today which might make it a little easier to see the benefit of these energies. Jupiter is a powerhouse of optimism and in its Piscean home feels that all things are possible through faith. Of course, it's never quite that simple--those who are familiar with things like the Law of Attraction find their biggest hurtle is removing the noise of the outside world in order to clear the way for manifestation. We don't live in a vacuum and the practicalities of daily life could feel particularly abrasive this week as Mars squares off with Uranus during all these otherwise ethereal Piscean moments. Try to channel Uranus' penchant for the new and different to find solutions to the problems that arise.
On Wednesday we see Mercury meet with Neptune and with it the crest of this wave. Pay close attention to dreams and instincts, especially as our communication planet moves into aspect with Pluto this weekend and gives voice to the shadows. All that internal energy will be a bit easier to articulate after Sunday when Mercury officially joins the Sun in Aries.
I don't think I'm alone in saying I have so looked forward to this season—I hung so much weight on this Equinox (against my own best judgement) and found myself overwhelmed with frustration when I realized there was still more work to do. But we've held on this long. We can make it another week. Stay patient, take advantage of the energies as they come, and reassure yourself of the purpose you pursue as we move forward.
